The General Assembly will reconvene for a special session on Tuesday, October 2nd at 10 AM. Lawmakers will be taking up issues to address disaster relief. School calendars, teacher pay, and delays in small business tax deadlines will be up for discussion. The session could then be adjourned until October 9th to address any further funding needs and pending executive agency reports.

In January 2018, the U.S. Department of the Interior announced a draft proposed plan that would open nearly 90 percent of America’s waters to offshore oil and natural gas development, setting the stage for a multiyear process of fact-gathering, due diligence and public input from citizens at the local, state and federal levels. As expected, groups on both sides of this issue are organizing voices of support and opposition to weigh in on the plan.
In 2018, the Romanian Parliament set the scene for future offshore investments in the Black Sea by passing a bill to regulate the offshore legislative framework. Currently, the legislative process is ongoing and Parliament is reevaluating some provisions at the request of the Romanian President.
