WASHINGTON, D.C.Scott Binkley has joined McGuireWoods Consulting as a vice president on the firm’s national multistate strategies team and federal public affairs team. He is resident in the Washington, D.C. office.

Binkley has managed multiple statewide gubernatorial campaigns and fulfilled various roles on campaigns for U.S. Senate and Congress. He draws upon his experience working with Republican state and local elected officials across the country to offer clients unique insights on multistate issues and advocacy campaigns. Additionally, he leverages his network and experience on Capitol Hill to advise clients on federal public affairs matters.

“Scott’s extensive experience working at the Republican Governors Association and directing the Republican Lieutenant Governors Association, along with his political work running Republican statewide campaigns in the South and Northeast, brings a unique set of experiences and relationships that strengthen our national and multistate team,” said former South Carolina Governor Jim Hodges, president of McGuireWoods Consulting and leader of the firm’s national multistate strategies team. “Businesses confronted with issues that cross state lines will benefit immensely from Scott’s national reach and strategic planning track record.”

In 2016, Binkley served as the executive director of the Republican Lieutenant Governors Association (RLGA), and he remains well connected with the many Republican governors that are former lieutenant governors as well as current lieutenant governors across the country. Binkley is also an alumni of the Republican Governors Association’s historic 2014 election cycle in which the association amassed record fundraising totals and wins across the country.

“Collaborating with clients on issues affecting their business operations beyond Washington and in multiple states is a service line unique to our firm,” said Mark Bowles, chairman of McGuireWoods Consulting. “We value the importance of offering clients direct connections to state and federal government officials germane to the issue at hand. Scott’s political and advocacy background undoubtedly compliments this characteristic of our team.”

Paul Reagan, director of McGuireWoods Consulting’s federal public affairs team echoes Bowles, “Scott’s dynamic campaign experience is a wonderful addition to our team’s depth and reach. The successes he has achieved are reflective of immense skill and dedication, and we could not be more pleased with his decision to join McGuireWoods Consulting.”
