Edward Hill, Veteran Capitol Hill Policy Aide, Joins McGuireWoods Consulting’s D.C. Office
WASHINGTON – Edward W. Hill, a seasoned aide to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and to a veteran North Carolina congressman, has joined McGuireWoods Consulting as a vice president in its Washington, D.C. office.
Hill has served since 2015 as a key assistant to U.S. Rep. G.K. Butterfield, aiding the North Carolina Democrat with his policy agenda on a range of issues including science and technology, healthcare, trade, tax and labor.
For two years before that, he worked for the oversight and government reform committee as a policy fellow for its ranking member, Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md. He worked closely with committee counsel drafting memoranda and talking points for Cummings and organized meetings with committee members and stakeholders on such issues as criminal justice reform, national security and voting rights.
“Edward has distinguished himself on the Hill as one of the brightest young staff members in a variety of roles. He brings a wealth of skills, knowledge and a can-do record that will serve our clients very well,” said Frank J. Donatelli, McGuireWoods Consulting executive vice president and director who leads its federal government affairs group.
Before his tenure in the House, Hill was a law clerk for a Washington-based law firm from 2013 to 2014 and a special assistant to the National Bar Association for five years beginning in 2006. He earned his law degree in 2014 from the Howard University School of Law, where he was president of the Student Bar Association. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Howard in 2010.
