NEWS & OBSERVER: AFL-CIO endorsements include Cooper, Ross, Meeker. The state AFL-CIO announced on Tuesday it is endorsing a slate of Democrats running for office on the spring ballot, including Attorney General Roy Cooper for governor, former state Rep. Linda Coleman for lieutenant governor, state Sen. Josh Stein for attorney general, former Raleigh mayor Charles Meeker for labor commissioner, Dan Blue III for state treasurer, and former state Rep. Deborah Ross for U.S. Senate.

NCGA Week in Review: Spotlight on Women, Children and Families

In 2015, the North Carolina General Assembly passed several laws that strengthened the protection of women, children and families across the state. With the support of judiciary committees, committees on children, youth and families and healthcare and insurance committees, bills were passed to support women’s health, clarify child abuse and foster care laws, and clarify laws pertaining to juveniles.
