Lauren joined McGuireWoods Consulting in January 2016 as an assistant vice president in the Georgia state government relations group. She assists clients with policy monitoring and research projects with a special concentration in education-related policy matters. Lauren is also an attorney and works with the McGuireWoods LLP Education Law team.
Prior to joining McGuireWoods Consulting, Lauren served as a policy analyst with The Council of State Governments’ Southern Legislative Conference where she performed research and provided assistance to legislators in 15 southern states. She has also worked with the Georgia General Assembly in the Office of Legislative Counsel, as a program analyst in the Senate Budget & Evaluation Office, and as a senior education policy analyst in the Senate Research Office.
While in the Senate Research Office, Lauren provided research and support for the State Education Finance Study Commission and served as lead staff for the Support Services Subcommittee. As part of her duties she worked closely with members of the Commission to develop recommendations to enhance Georgia’s K-12 funding formula. In her role as senior education policy analyst, Lauren worked with policymakers on an array of legislative issues, including charter schools, school improvement, accountability, and flexibility.
