William “Murphy” Talmadge joined McGuireWoods Consulting in January 2015 and serves as an assistant vice president in the state government relations group. Prior to joining the firm, Murphy served as president and managing partner of Twelve Oaks, a full service public affairs, government relations, and campaign consulting firm focused on local, state and national elections.
Murphy began his career in politics in 2003 as the liaison between then Secretary of State Cathy Cox’s office and Industry, Tourism, and Trade Commissioner R.K. Sehgal on the founding of the Secretary of State’s Georgia Government Teen Advisory Board. Following the founding, Murphy oversaw the board’s activities and assisted in implementing the initiatives generated by the board.
Since 2006, Murphy has consulted on numerous federal, state, and local campaigns. In November of 2012, he successfully managed the campaign of Georgia Families for Public Virtual Education and GA Public School Families for Amendment One, leading to a historic statewide ballot victory. Murphy has a long, established record of service in Georgia’s political and campaign arenas, with a proven track record for success. Murphy has served as an advisor and political strategist to statewide elected officials and dozens of state legislators and local officials.
