Chris Nolen joined McGuireWoods Consulting in late 2009. Prior to joining McGuireWoods Consulting, Chris was a partner at Williams Mullen representing clients before the Virginia General Assembly and various state agencies.
He served for three years in the Virginia Attorney General's office as Special Counsel and then as Chief Counsel to the Attorney General. In those positions, Chris sat at the intersection of law, policy and press. Additionally, Chris was responsible for heading the Attorney General's legislative efforts resulting in over 100 pieces of legislation being enacted into law. He also oversaw the official opinion process of the Attorney General, which issued more than 300 formal and informal opinions interpreting state law for agencies, legislators and the governor.

Chris has been involved in Virginia politics for more than 20 years. Chris has served as the executive director for former Governor George Allen’s political campaign committee, as legislative assistant to legislators who now serve as the House Republican Majority Leader and House Majority Whip, and has managed and advised numerous legislative campaigns and served as campaign director for a Virginia gubernatorial campaign. He has also provided legal counsel in an election contest for a constitutional officer and served as recount counsel for a House of Delegates campaign.
