Heather Martin is a vice president of Federal Public Affairs. In addition to her federal practice, she also assists clients with strategic planning, message development, issue advocacy campaigns, coalition building and grassroots initiatives.

Heather possesses more than 20 years experience in campaign and issue management, message development, and organizing and coordinating fundraising for elected officials and candidates. She has worked in Montana, Idaho, California and Virginia in this capacity and brings an understanding and knowledge of different regions of the country that benefits our clients. Heather also advises and assists clients on Capitol Hill relating to federal issues before Congress

Heather has experience in developing and managing regional and state-wide coalitions our clients helping them navigate federal policies and implementing grassroots and grasstops programs affecting change in legal reform and energy regulation issues.

Prior to joining McGuireWoods Consulting, she most recently served as the Chief of Staff for the Democratic Leader in the Virginia House of Delegates, Franklin P. Hall. Before that, Heather was a senior account executive with MSHC Partners, a nationally known direct mail firm. She was also the Director of the Virginia Democratic House Caucus in 2003 when they made their first gains in 28 years, and worked as PAC Director for former Governor Mark Warner.

Heather has also worked for Senator Max Baucus, Congressman Sam Farr and former Caucus Chair of the Virginia Democratic House Caucus, Alan Diamonstein. In addition, she served for eight years on the Democratic National Committee as the National Committee Woman from Montana.

Heather is the mother of two children, Jennifer and Ryan.
