Mark T. Bowles

Mark T. Bowles is an executive vice president at McGuireWoods Consulting LLC and a partner in McGuireWoods LLP. His practice focuses on state and local government relations, and he represents clients on issues dealing with environmental law, energy, technology, telecommunications, healthcare, higher education and alcoholic beverage control. Over the past 10 years, he has helped lead several high-profile legislative victories in Virginia and helped coordinate legislative initiatives in states throughout the South and mid-Atlantic. In addition, Mark represents a number of clients on matters before Virginia's state agencies and commissions and serves on McGuireWoods' Government Contracts and Regulatory Solutions group. Mark also chairs McGuireWoods' State Political Action Committee

Mark served as an Assistant Attorney General in Virginia for four years prior to becoming legislative counsel for a multi-state utility association. From 1994 to 1997, he served as chief of staff to Rep. L.F. Payne (D-VA). Governor Mark Warner and Governor Tim Kaine appointed him as Virginia's representative on the Southern Global Strategies Council of the Southern Growth Policies Board and to the Board of Visitors at James Madison University.
Mark has been involved in Virginia politics for over 20 years during which time he has managed two statewide campaigns in Virginia and numerous legislative races. He also served as research assistant to nationally renowned political author and commentator Larry J. Sabato at the University of Virginia.
