Senator Evan Bayh Joins McGuireWoods

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Evan Bayh, the former two-term Governor of Indiana and United States Senator from 1999 to 2011, has joined McGuireWoods as a partner in the firm’s Washington office, the firm announced today. Senator Bayh will serve as a strategic advisor to the firm’s most significant domestic and international clients, particularly those whose business goals are impacted by public policy, the actions of Congress, the executive branch, or by governors and legislatures across the country.

"Senator Bayh provides a rare and timely perspective for our clients," said Richard Cullen, McGuireWoods’ chairman. "Throughout his long and distinguished career in public service he was known for working with Democrats and Republicans, not to score political points, but rather to drive consensus around issues that mattered most. He will help us and our clients understand how to get things done in an environment rife with partisan perils but aching for sensible, common ground solutions."

McGuireWoods is one of the nation’s largest and most diverse law firms, with over 900 lawyers serving corporate and institutional clients from 19 offices in the U. S. and Europe. Bayh will also be a senior advisor to McGuireWoods Consulting, the firm’s public affairs subsidiary, one of only a few in the nation with deep experience and solid bipartisan relationships not only in Washington but in state capitals around the country.

“I am honored to join McGuireWoods,” said Bayh. “I’ve always been impressed by the top-notch professionalism, excellent character and collegial atmosphere here. The firm’s national and increasingly global presence gives me a broad platform to develop a challenging practice serving a wide variety of clients at the highest level.”

In addition to his practice at McGuireWoods, Senator Bayh is a senior advisor at Apollo Global Management in New York, and will continue to speak on the pressing issues facing our nation and the world.
