McGuireWoods Consulting Adds 3 to Atlanta Office

"We are excited to have this talented trio joining forces with our Atlanta team on January 3rd," said Frank Atkinson, chairman of McGuireWoods Consulting. "As we continue to expand our operations in the Southeast and throughout the country, their addition will allow us to continue growing our business while providing outstanding service to our clients."

Alexander, who joins McGuireWoods Consulting as a senior vice president and will lead the Georgia Government Relations group, was a founding partner of Georgia360 where he served as managing partner. Prior to Georgia360, he served as chief of staff to Georgia Lt. Governor Casey Cagle and played a leadership role in operating the upper chamber of the Georgia State legislature where he dealt with budget, tax, infrastructure and healthcare related issues. Alexander has also served as a press secretary and district director in the U.S. House of Representatives, as a federal relations staffer for Duke University, and as a strategic consultant for numerous campaigns.

Fortson comes to McGuireWoods Consulting as a vice president and has experience in education, healthcare, legislative and regulatory law, and labor & employment matters. Before joining McGuireWoods Consulting, he served as Of Counsel at Georgia360 and as a litigation and trial attorney with Alston & Bird in Atlanta. Fortson will also maintain his legal practice as an attorney with McGuireWoods LLP.

Long will serve as an assistant vice president. At Georgia 360, he oversaw legislative tracking and monitoring activities for clients, assisted with the development and activation of its grassroots political network, and managed advocacy programs directed at elected and appointed officials and government agencies. Long also possesses public sector experience having served as a top aide for Georgia's Senate Majority Caucus and legislative aide to the Caucus Chairman.

"The addition of Brad, Rob and Andrew to the Atlanta office reinforces our position as a top provider of public affairs services in Georgia," said Mark Bowles, executive vice president and head of McGuireWoods Consulting’s State Government Relations practice. "Their experience and reputation for getting things accomplished will help ensure we continue to provide the highest level of service to our growing client base."

Alexander, Fortson and Long will join the firm’s existing team of Sen. Eric Johnson, Ashley Harris, Michael Shelnutt, Misty Holcomb, Victor Moldovan and John Culverhouse. The Atlanta office was recently ranked second in the state in the Top Governmental Affairs Firm category of James Magazine's Georgia's Top Lobbyists & Associations 2011 Rankings.

"Rob, Andrew and I are energized and ready to hit the ground running on January 3," said Alexander. "The prospects of joining such a talented group of government relations professionals had tremendous appeal for us and our clients, but McGuireWoods Consulting’s ability to provide a comprehensive array of services in any state around the country, and at the federal level, ultimately sealed the deal."
