Ashley Harris Appointed to Atlanta Urban Design Commission
"It is a privilege to serve on this Commission that has been protecting Atlanta's legacy for over 35 years," said Ms. Harris. "I care deeply about maintaining the integrity of our historic city while at the same time enhancing business opportunities for Atlanta."
Established in 1975, the AUDC’s purpose is to identify, protect, enhance, and perpetuate the use of buildings, sites and districts of special character, historic interest, or aesthetic value. AUDC membership must include two architects, as well as a landscape architect, land developer, real estate professional, historic preservationist, artist, historian, neighborhood representative, urban planner, and a lawyer.
Since the City's current Historic Preservation Ordinance was enacted in 1989, 54 individual buildings and 15 districts have been brought under its protection.
"Working for improvements and maintaining a positive quality of life for my neighbors in the Bolton Community has been a strong commitment of mine," states Ms. Harris. "I look forward to serving alongside other members who share my commitment to this City."
