RICHMOND, Va. – McGuireWoods Consulting today announced that Tucker Martin will join the MWCAdvocacy team next week as a senior vice president. He will assist clients across a variety of industries nationwide with media relations, strategic communications and grassroots initiatives.

Martin’s nearly two decades of experience in governmental, political and private-sector public relations and communications will benefit clients of McGuireWoods, a leading national law firm, and McGuireWoods Consulting, the firm’s public affairs arm.

“Tucker’s arrival is exciting for our clients and colleagues,” said Steve Horton, director of MWCAdvocacy and senior vice president at McGuireWoods Consulting. “Tucker’s experience will expand opportunities for our clients, and will help them succeed with proven communication strategies.”

Prior to joining McGuireWoods Consulting, Martin served as communications director and senior strategist for America Leads, the Super PAC backing Governor Chris Christie in his 2016 presidential campaign. He has served as a senior advisor for candidates for governor and the United States Senate, and worked as a consultant to the Republican Governors Association. In addition, Martin has helped write and produce political advertising for numerous campaigns across the country.

Martin served as Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell’s communications director, from 2010 to 2014 after serving as a strategic advisor and communications director for McDonnell’s 2009 campaign. Before that, he was communications director for McDonnell during his term as state attorney general. He was deputy press secretary for former state Attorney General Jerry Kilgore’s 2005 campaign for governor after serving as deputy communications director for Kilgore as attorney general. Earlier, he had handled communications for then-Virginia State House Majority Leader H. Morgan Griffith, now a member of Congress.
