Chris Lloyd Assists in One of Virginia’s Biggest Economic Development Deals
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam announced on Aug. 29 that Micron Technology plans to expand its Manassas plant, spending $3 billion and adding 1,100 high-paying jobs by 2030.
An Aug. 29 Washington Business Journal article explored the workings behind one of Virginia’s largest economic development deals, including meetings with Northam, and putting together a competitive package to beat out other states and countries. Micron could receive a $70 million state grant — Virginia’s largest grant accepted by a company in at least 20 years.
Chris Lloyd, senior vice president and director of McGuireWoods Consulting’s infrastructure and economic development team, assisted with the final negotiations of the deal.
“Virginia won because of its track record of being a good home for the semiconductor industry,” he said. “Virginia has just been a consistent partner for Micron all along, and the company recognized that."
