Gregory Guice Joins MWC’s Federal Public Affairs Team, Adds Depth Across Practice Areas

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Gregory Guice has joined McGuireWoods Consulting as a senior vice president on the firm’s federal public affairs team and senior counsel with McGuireWoods LLP.
Guice adds significant depth to McGuireWoods Consulting’s capabilities in telecommunications, data privacy and emerging technologies. He joins MWC from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, where he served as senior counsel focusing on legislative and regulatory matters in the telecommunications and information technology sectors. He has significant experience handling matters related to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, cybersecurity, autonomous vehicles, universal service, broadband connectivity and affordability, spectrum issues, artificial intelligence, and competition policy, among others.

Prior to joining Akin Gump, Guice served as director of the Office of Legislative Affairs for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), as well as counsel to the Subcommittee on Communications, Technology and the Internet for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and as a regulatory attorney in the Wireline Competition Bureau and Wireless Telecommunications Bureau. An experienced lobbyist and attorney, Guice offers clients a unique perspective on matters before the U.S. Congress, FCC, Federal Trade Commission, National Telecommunications and Information Administration, Rural Utilities Service, and Department of Transportation.

“Greg’s combined public affairs and legal capabilities will benefit our clients across practice areas,” said Paul Reagan, director of McGuireWoods Consulting’s federal public affairs team. “His previous experience at the FCC and with the House Energy and Commerce Committee is unique and invaluable.”

“A large amount of legislation affecting businesses is referred to this committee,” Reagan said. “Greg’s background provides our clients with yet another pro-business avenue when it comes to federal policy.”

Gov. Jim Hodges, a former South Carolina governor and president of McGuireWoods Consulting, echoes Reagan, “Greg has represented clients before Congress and numerous federal regulatory agencies that are important to our clients’ business operations and success. He is well respected in Washington and a strong addition to our federal team.”
Mark Bowles, chairman of McGuireWoods Consulting, said, “Our federal team excels at shaping policy across sectors, and we are excited to start the year with Greg on board.”
Guice is a graduate of the George Mason University School of Law and the University of North Carolina. He is admitted in Washington, D.C. and Virginia.

Todd Mullins, managing partner of McGuireWoods LLP’s Washington, D.C. office, added, “Greg offers our clients exceptional federal regulatory insights and is a known entity among  FCC key players and those at several other federal agencies. He’s a great asset to the McGuireWoods team.”
