Lucy Nashed, Tracy Morehead Join MWC’s Texas State Government Relations Team

AUSTIN – McGuireWoods Consulting’s Texas government relations team has hired Lucy Nashed and Tracy Morehead in its Austin office. They will serve as vice president and assistant vice president of state government relations, respectively.

“We are proud to have Lucy and Tracy join our team during an exciting time of growth and as we continue to provide strategic government affairs and communications work to our clients,” said Mark Miner, senior vice president and co-director of McGuireWoods Consulting’s Texas government relations team.

“Lucy and Tracy’s critical experience on the forefront of a variety of issues in state government and communications will be an invaluable asset to our clients during Texas’s 86th legislative session and beyond,” said Holly Deshields, senior vice president and co-director of McGuireWoods Consulting’s Texas government relations team.

Nashed will provide strategic communications services to support the team’s client legislative efforts. She has spent a decade in Texas government and politics, working extensively on some of the most critical issues facing the Lone Star State. As press secretary for former Gov. Rick Perry and communications director for his 2015 presidential campaign, Nashed played a key role in promoting successful policy initiatives, including Gov. Perry’s signature economic development efforts. Most recently, Nashed served as communications director for Texans for Lawsuit Reform, one of the largest and most successful state-based tort reform organizations in the nation. She hails from Plano, Texas, and holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Texas at Austin. Nashed replaces Cait Meisenheimer, who is now press secretary for newly elected Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen.

Morehead will support client needs related to government affairs with state legislature, the executive branch and state agencies. Morehead most recently served as chief of staff for legendary Texas State Rep. Charles “Doc” Anderson. In this capacity, she played a key role in Rep. Anderson’s successful legislative passage rate, managed daily operations in his Capitol and district offices, handled committee work and legislation, and maintained strong relationships with local officials and associations. Morehead holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Texas State University. She replaces Jessica Follett, who now serves as district affairs coordinator for Speaker Bonnen.
