Kate Petersen, Former Chief of Staff to House Democratic Caucus Chair, Joins MWC in Richmond
RICHMOND – Kate Petersen, former Chief of Staff to Virginia House Democratic Caucus Chairman Richard C. “Rip” Sullivan, Jr. (VA-48), has joined McGuireWoods Consulting’s Virginia government relations team as an assistant vice president. In addition to her role as Chief of Staff, Petersen managed Del. Sullivan’s campaign activities, including fundraising and communications during his time as campaign chair in 2019.
“We’re excited to have Kate to join us at MWC,” said Tray Adams, senior vice president and director of MWC’s Virginia government relations team. “She brings a wide variety of policy experience and a depth of relationships that will provide a great complement to our Virginia team.”
Petersen began her career in the government sector representing federal services contractors for a large trade association focused on complex defense and intelligence matters. She later expanded her portfolio as a legislative aide on Capitol Hill, working on healthcare, education and veterans’ issues.
“I am thrilled to be joining the MWC team,” said Petersen. “McGuireWoods Consulting’s work represents the gold standard in Richmond, and I look forward to contributing to their efforts.”
MWC chairman Mark Bowles added, “Kate is a great addition to an already outstanding MWC Virginia consulting team. Her background with the House Democratic Caucus is unique and will benefit our clients facing any number of policy issues.”
Petersen is a native of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania and a graduate of Georgetown University.
