Message from MWC’s Leadership in Response to Racial Injustice
McGuireWoods Consulting's leadership shared the following message with all MWC personnel in response to racial injustice.
Racial justice is essential for our country and the communities in which we live and work. Now is the time for all of us to engage in conversations about race and commit to our part in making positive long-lasting change.
As Jon Harmon, McGuireWoods chairman, shared in his public message about recent events, a diverse group of team members at McGuireWoods and McGuireWoods Consulting have begun a dialogue on how we work toward racial equality in the communities we serve. Jon involved us along with Johnny Tillett from our North Carolina office in the very first conversations. We are committed to work alongside Jon and this group not only to speak the right words, but to make those words turn into actions.
As the leadership of McGuireWoods Consulting, we do not begin to have the answers and welcome your input. This group’s deliberations and plan of action will be so much stronger with the thoughts and considerations of many. We have joined together with the law firm to make this a priority, and our goal is to engage the entire MW family so that together we can make a difference.
We asked Johnny to share a perspective on this issue, which is provided below.
We want to be part of the solution and that makes me very proud of this firm -- finding solutions is what we do at MWC. We’ve begun moving forward in Raleigh along with MW attorneys Mary Nash Rusher and Jocelyn Mallette and our very own Tyler Ford. We had a conference call today with Mayor Baldwin and Councilmember Branch and came away with few key ideas on how MW and MWC can be of some help. We are optimistic that we can turn these ideas into action and look forward to sharing with others. – Johnny Tillett, Senior Vice President on MWC’s North Carolina team.
