Robert Wood has joined McGuireWoods Consulting as a senior advisor of state government relations in the firm’s Austin office.
With over 23 years in senior level roles in Texas state government, Wood most recently served as associate deputy comptroller for the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts and a division director for eight years. While at the Comptroller, Wood handled a wide spectrum of matters ranging from economic development, statewide procurement, energy conservation and endangered species research to broadband and agency administration. He actively represented the office before the Texas legislature.
Wood previously served as an assistant commissioner at the Texas Department of Agriculture, where he worked on rural development and agricultural finance issues.
Before entering government service, Wood worked in the commercial banking industry and as a manager for a diversified farm and ranch operation.

His institutional knowledge on tax policy, procurement and broadband access will bring a whole new dimension of opportunities to our clients in Texas and around the country,” noted Holly Deshields, a McGuireWoods Consulting senior vice president of State Government Relations and director of the Austin office.
