During the 2022 Partnership Retreat, McGuireWoods Consulting senior advisors and senior vice presidents convened for a general session featuring speakers and a presentation of the Atkinson-Payne Pro Bono Award.

MWC presented its 2022 Atkinson-Payne Pro Bono Award to Sara Clements, vice president for state government relations, for her work on behalf of the Florida Foster and Adoptive Parent Association (FAPA). Sara and MWC have assisted FAPA on many projects to ensure that foster parents have a voice in important decisions impacting foster children and the children’s welfare system.

Thanks to Sara’s efforts, Florida lawmakers funded $25 million in next year’s state budget to decrease foster parents’ out-of-pocket childcare expenses — providing foster families an additional $200 per foster child per month to defray costs. sara clements wins award
