THE MOUNTAINEER: North Carolina offers $1.2M in tax incentives to Carvana, governor says company will contribute more than $500M to economy
North Carolina is offering $1.2 million in tax incentives to Carvana, a move that the Cooper Administration says will result in nearly $512 million for the state’s economy. The e-commerce car sales platform plans to open a new inspection and reconditioning facility in Cabarrus County. The Concord facility’s staff will inspect, refurbish and process vehicles for online sales.
AREA DEVELOPMENT: Policygenius to Locate Tech & Operations Center in Durham, North Carolina
Policygenius, a fast-growing online insurance platform, will invest nearly $6 million to locate a technical and operations center in Durham County, North Carolina. The company plans to create at least 377 jobs over the next five years.

WLOS: Tracking Dorian: Evacuation orders in place for some in North Carolina
Evacuation orders continue to be put in place in North Carolina ahead of Hurricane Dorian’s expected arrival. With confidence increasing that Dare County will see significant, life-threatening impacts from Hurricane Dorian later this week, officials say a state of emergency has been issued for all areas of the county including the towns of Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, Manteo and all unincorporated areas including Hatteras Island, Roanoke Island and the Dare mainland.

A North Carolina school district has installed technology into their school buses that allows parents to track their child’s bus ride to and from school. This school year, parents with kids in New Hanover County Schools can use the Edulog app to track their student’s bus, WECT reports.
