Will Virginia Follow California’s Lead on Consumer Privacy Legislation?
When the Virginia General Assembly begins its legislative session on Jan. 8, a number of privacy-related bills will be on the agenda, including HB 473, the Virginia Privacy Act, which proposes to strengthen the data privacy rights of Virginians. Courts and Healthcare Policy in 2020
2019 saw court hearings of a number of cases related to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Several other Trump administration policies were also challenged, including Medicare payment policies, price transparency, how the Medicaid program can change and whether Medicaid beneficiaries can sue over curtailed benefits, and immigration changes affecting access to programs like Medicaid. In 2020, the courts will continue to play an important role as some cases continue in the process, and potential new lawsuits challenge the administration’s continued effort to change health policy.
