ASSOCIATED PRESS: Judge Blocks NC Law Provision Aimed at Farm Workers’ Union
U.S. District Judge Loretta Biggs issued a permanent injunction this week declaring a provision is unconstitutional that prevents legal settlements between workers and farms from including mandates for a farm to enter a collective bargaining agreement. Bargaining agreements between FLOC and farms in North Carolina are voluntary.

North Carolina’s unemployment rate declined slightly in August, which means it’s now fallen for 11 months in a row. The state Commerce Department said on Friday the seasonally adjusted jobless rate fell from 4.4% in July to 4.3% last month.

SPECTRUM: Audit: N.C. DOT spent less than planned, but risks remain
North Carolina’s Department of Transportation spent less than predicted in the second half of 2020, a state performance audit showed. But the report’s authors said the agency hadn’t carried out key recommendations from an audit last year that found several hundred million dollars in overspending.
