BIO

Katie is a vice president with McGuireWoods Consulting in Atlanta, Georgia. She works in government affairs at the state and local levels providing support on environmental policy and climate change issues. Katie focuses on assisting companies with an environmental strategy for permitting and compliance matters. She also provides insight into attainable corporate sustainability goals, including renewable energy.

Katie has a chemical engineering degree from the University of Alabama, and previously spent 14 years working in the public sector for the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD). Prior to this role, she worked in Air Protection, interpreting and applying complex regulations including NAA-NSR, PSD, Title V, NSPS, NESHAP and Air Toxics.

Katie has also managed the surface mining program in the Land Protection Branch, supervising all of the permitting, compliance and enforcement for over 700 mines in the state of Georgia. Through this position, she collaborated with the Water Protection Branch in regard to NPDES permitting for Construction Stormwater, Industrial Stormwater and Industrial Process Water discharges.

She is passionate about leadership and professional development. While at Georgia EPD, she co-chaired the Employee Professional Mentoring Program for seven years. Katie also initiated and facilitated manager training sessions and facilitated manager roundtable discussions, allowing managers at have an outlet to discuss functional practices and policies.

Katie’s diverse experience in the environmental regulatory sector provides insight and assistance to clients seeking to navigate the regulatory process in regard to strategic operations or in response to compliance actions.
