BIO
Eric is a senior advisor of state government relations in McGuireWoods Consulting's Georgia office. He possesses extensive knowledge and experience with the budgetary and legislative process, and has developed strong relationships with key lawmakers and staff members.

Johnson, a former state senator, was one of the key architects of the shift of political power in Georgia in 2002. He was elected to the State House in 1992. In 1994, Eric was elected to the State Senate. In just his second term, he was elected Minority (Republican) Whip. As Minority Leader from 1998 to 2002, he led Republicans to their first majority in 130 years. With a Democrat as Lt. Governor, the new Republican majority elected Johnson President Pro Tempore. From that position, he appointed committees and managed the flow of legislation and the budget. In 2009, Johnson was Chairman of the Senate Ethics Committee. He resigned his Senate seat in late 2009 to run for Governor of Georgia. Johnson has shown he understands how to effect change and deliver results. He has also reached out across the aisle on key issues including tax and ethics reform, water policy and school choice.

In addition to his role with McGuireWoods Consulting, Eric serves as president of an A/E firm. As a licensed architect, he is familiar with environmental and permitting challenges that our clients face daily. Johnson assists client with strategic advice, traditional lobbying, economic development and specializes in education, healthcare, state budget, ethics and telecommunications issues.
