Charles joined McGuireWoods Consulting in 2011 and specializes in digital public affairs – online communications and advocacy, graphic and web design, video production, and data management.

His practice also includes traditional advocacy, coalition development, and non-profit management. His portfolio includes initiatives for energy, education, travel, business and economic development, and healthcare clients.

Prior to joining the firm, Charles owned and operated his own digital shop while developing an extensive background in Virginia politics and government – serving as deputy director of a Virginia-based advocacy non-profit, working on former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell’s successful gubernatorial campaign, and managing a re-election bid for then-Delegate and current Congressman Ben Cline (VA-6).

Charles received his bachelor’s in political science from Virginia Commonwealth University, and is a 2012 alumnus of the University of Virginia’s Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership’s Political Leaders Program. He and his wife, Amy, live in Richmond with their two children, Lofton and Everett.
